MSSL University Scholarship
The Maverick Summer Swim League gives at least two annual $500 university scholarships to deserving athlete scholars who have been upstanding members of our organization. The recipients provide leadership and are great role models to the younger swimmers on their teams. See the application for qualifications in order to apply.
Completed applications are accepted from March 1st - May 31st to the MSSL University Scholarship Committee. Winners are announced no later than June 15th each year.
2019 winners were announced July 3rd at the All-Star Meet
The Maverick Summer Swim League (MSSL) Scholarship winners were announced on the MSSL Facebook page in June and then again at the All-Star Meet on July 3rd. There were more applications than ever this year and the committee decided 4 scholarship winners would be named for the first time in the 16 year history of our league.
Among the four Scholarship Winners is our very own JEFFERY ELLIOTT from Parkwood Piranhas.
The other winners were Jacquelyne Howell from Timberwood Park, Jake Nelms from Sonoma Ranch, and Isabella Wildeman from Mountain Lodge.
Congratulations Jeffery, you are so deserving of this Athletic/Academic award. You have represented yourself, your family and your Piranha swim family well!
2020 Winners were announced on MSSL website even though we were unable to carry out a summer swim season due to Covid-19 Pandemic.

Gregory Woodard will attend Texas Tech University in Lubbock becoming a Red Raider this fall! He attained an stellar 98.18 GPA while attending Brandeis High School. Greg was a member of the Brandeis Broncos Varsity Swim Team as well as the Brandeis band. As a volunteer with the EcoBroncos he helped with recycling efforts at his school. Greg advanced to the swim regionals while competing on the varsity Brandeis team.
Greg began his summer league career 14 years ago with the Sonoma Ranch Renegades Swim Team. The league wishes him well as he begins his college career. With his drive and determination we are sure he will be successful in his chosen field.
Samantha Robles, our second scholarship winner, will be headed to the University of North Texas where she will be majoring in Rehabilitaion Studies. Samantha was a stellar student at Johnson High School where she competed on the varsity swim team. In 2021, Samantha placed 1st in the 6A District and Regional Championships in both 100 fly and 100 backstroke events. Even though training takes a lot of time, Samantha was a super student having graduated with a 95+ GPA. She looks forward to being a member of the UNT Eagle Swim Team.
Samantha was a valuable member of the Mountain Lodge Manta Rays Swim Team for 12 years! She loves that both Manta Rays and the Eagles Swim Teams' colors are GREEN! Go Mean Green!! Congratulations on your impending college career. It's been a pleasure watching both of these young swimmer develop and grow while participants on their summer league teams for many years!
2022 winner was announced June 14th on the MSSL website.
Jaycie Bass graduated near the top of her class at Madison High School with a 3.9 Grad Point Average. She has been a popular member of her summer league team for the past 10 years, and someone the younger swimmers could look up to. Jaycie has been an active volunteer teen coach with her summer league team, the Steubing RanchSteel Eels since age14. She enjoys working with the youngest swimmers, ages 5-9, teaching water safety and the basic swim strokes. This fall Jaycie will attend Tarleton State University in Stephenvillle, TX. We wish her all the best as she begins her college career!
