Swimmers to report to Parkwood Pool at 5PM and No later than 5:15. Swimmers to immediately check in with Coach Pullen or Coach Abbie. Swimmers Warm-up in pool 5:15 - 5:45, your Coaches will give you instructions. Meet Starts promptly at 6:00 PM. Swimmers can start in the pool or dive off the pool deck, we will not be able to dive from our Starter blocks for this meet to be fair to the host team who does not have Starter Blocks. Parent Volunteers, please see Whitney Wallock under the Sun Shade for name badges and volunteer assignments. Volunteer Timers: We will have a timer meeting at 5:45 at the table next to Scorekeeper table (near Lane 1). With "Virtual" meets this year we are limited to the number of parents to volunteer. Typically both teams provide volunteer timers. Timing will be a little different this year. You will be given more instructions at the meet, but we will have 2 timers in each lane this year. The first timer (in each lane) will hold a clipboard and one Dolphin stopwatch, the second timer in each lane will hold two Dolphin stopwatches to record time. The Timer with the clipboard will record all 3 timings on the sheet. Parents, when you arrive to the pool the day of the meet, please be sure to bring your outdoor chairs, pop-ups for optimal comfort for July Swim meets and please spread out across the entirety of the pool deck. We will not be confined to a certain area since we will not be sharing the deck with another team. The area under the sun-shade is designated for all the swimmers. They can lay out their towels when the first arrive to stake out an area before they check in with our coaches. Please gear-up with your Piranha Gear and show your Piranha pride! |

Stroke and Turn Judges On-Deck Training
Parkwood Pool
Start: 8:00 PM
End: 9:00 PM
Stroke and Turn Training This year (2021), much of the training for new Stroke and Turn officials will be virtual that you can do at home. There are three steps needed to become certified as a Stroke and Turn official: 1.View the training video on Being a Swimming Official 2.View the training video on Stroke Rules 3.Attend an on-deck session to observe actual strokes Before starting the videos, there are several resources that you should download and print. The first is the S&T Handbook. Print the handbook two sided. Then you just need to fold it in half and you have a convenient handbook to carry around. The second are the 2021 Stroke and Turn Clinic Handouts. Either print them or have them handy when you watch the videos. The videos have been posted on YouTube. Use the link below for the video on Being a Swimming Official: After you have viewed that video, you can move on to the video on Swimming Stroke Rules at: The final step is to come to an on-deck session at Parkwood Pool 6/24 from 8 - 9 PM. |
